Heinola is supplying two new progressive kilns to S\u00f6dra Wood\u2019s V\u00e4r\u00f6 sawmill in Sweden. These are HTC-type, automated, 2-phase continuous-operation progressive kilns, with a combined drying capacity of over 60,000 cubic meters per year. The continuous-operation progressive kilns will dry pine and spruce lumber to a final moisture content of 12% and are equipped with heat recovery systems, load presses, HPHW hot water misting, energy measurements for each kiln, and highly user-friendly HEINOLA kiln automation.<\/p>\n
The new kiln investment will enable efficient use of V\u00e4r\u00f6\u2019s entire production potential and ensure sufficient drying capacity when V\u00e4r\u00f6\u2019s new cross-laminated timber production facility is completed.<\/p>\n
Heinola has previously delivered two progressive kilns to S\u00f6dra. The newly ordered kilns are similar but include safety-related updates. The kilns will be delivered as a turnkey solution, installed next to the existing progressive kilns, and will be operational in 2022.<\/p>\n
“Securing a new deal with an existing customer means we have been doing things right. The operating staff has been satisfied with the kilns we have already supplied, which greatly influences current procurement decisions,” says Marko Kaukonen<\/strong>, Product Manager of Heinola\u2019s drying business.<\/p>\n Heinola is currently making the largest kiln delivery in its history to Finland\u2019s largest sawmill, Mets\u00e4 Fibre Oy\u2019s Rauma plant. S\u00f6dra Wood V\u00e4r\u00f6 in southern Sweden is Sweden\u2019s largest sawmill, further strengthening Heinola\u2019s position in the region.<\/p>\n “We are currently the largest supplier of lumber kilns in Finland, and with this order, HEINOLA strengthens its position in the Swedish market,” says Jan R\u00e4s\u00e4nen<\/strong>, CEO of Heinolan Sahakoneet.<\/p>\n S\u00f6dra was founded in 1938 and is Sweden\u2019s largest forest owner association, with nearly 52,000 forest owners as members. S\u00f6dra practices modern and responsible forestry and industry, where raw materials are further processed. In 2020, S\u00f6dra had a turnover of 20 billion SEK and employed 3,100 people. Through value-creating connections and long-term activities, S\u00f6dra leads the way in forestry for the next generation.<\/p>\n Heinolan Sahakoneet Oy designs, manufactures, and markets technology for sawmills and the production of energy chips. The company\u2019s turnover is approximately 15 million euros, and it employs 19 people.
