History

The first framesaws delivered by Ahlström in Karhula

Framesaws dominate

Plan-Sell Oy engineering works was established in Heinola

Plan-Sell Oy’s  workshop was established in Heinola. The first job was to produce a series of 10 small packet grabbers at a price of 1000 mk each.

In addition to domestic deliveries, over 100 lathes and more than 30 sorting machines were shipped to the then Soviet Union.

In 1976, a workshop was built in Kitee, bringing in much new technology, such as edge bending machines.

1978 – peak turnover.

At its peak in 1978, the turnover of Plan-Sell’s workshop operations was approximately 150 million mk.

Plan-Sell made Finland’s largest sawmill machinery deal in Moscow, amounting to 20 million rubles, over 120 million mk

The order included 12 sorting machines with packaging facilities.

In the fall, the order was extended with 22 additional sorting machines and spare parts, with a purchase price of 40 million rubles.

Thus, Plan-Sell had delivery contracts with a total value exceeding 300 million mk.

The deliveries under the contract took place from 1976 to 1979.

Edge bending machines became more common in Finnish sawmills. Plan-Sell and Ahlström merged their sawmill machinery operations. Valmet’s sawn timber handling business and Bioneer’s chipper business were acquired.

In the early part of the decade, several new sawlines were delivered to Finland.

Troponor, later Sorb Industri Ab, became the owner. By the end of the decade, nearly 100% market share in sawmill chippers.

Large plant deliveries to Russia, numerous plant modernizations domestically, and a strong focus on energy chippers.

Considerable plant deliveries for export, especially to Russia. Numerous plant modernisations continue in Finland.

To expand its market position, HEINOLA added dryers to its delivery range. The long and extensive experience of experts in the demanding production conditions of the Nordic sawmill industry and the drying solutions suitable for them was an important reason for taking on this product area.

We have strong confidence in our chosen strategy to specialize in dryers and chippers. In addition, we will continue to make significant investments in our HEINOLA service maintenance and spare parts services.
